- Description
The Everbuild 901 Black Jack Bitumen Paint is a solvent-based, full-bodied black bituminous paint available in a 25-litre drum. Upon drying, it forms an odourless and taint-free black film suitable for metal protection, concrete structures, and overcoating wood and felt.
Key Features:
Fast Drying: Dries quickly, allowing for efficient project progression.
Versatile Application: Suitable for use on most common building surfaces, including iron, steel, lead, zinc, aluminium, asbestos-cement, concrete, stone, wood, felt, and brick.
Chemical Resistance: Resistant to most salt solutions, dilute acids and alkalis, water, and alcohol.
Protective Coating: Provides a waterproof, weatherproof, and corrosion-resistant protective layer.
Common Uses:
Metal Protection: Ideal for applications such as corrugated iron sheets, fire escapes, stairways, ladders, storage tanks, gutters, downpipes, fences, railings, and gates.
Concrete and Masonry: Serves as a protective coating for concrete structures, stone, brick, concrete screeds, and sand/cement surfaces.
Overcoating: Suitable for overcoating felt and wood to enhance durability and protection.
Application Guidelines:
Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are sound, stable, and thoroughly clean and dry. Metal surfaces should be wire-brushed to remove rust. For long-term protection, an initial treatment with a rust-inhibitive product is recommended.
Application: Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply by brush or spray without thinning. A minimum of two coats is recommended, allowing the first coat to dry (typically 2-4 hours, depending on weather conditions) before applying the second.
Coverage: On porous surfaces, coverage is approximately 4-6 square meters per litre; on non-porous surfaces, up to 11 square meters per litre.
Limitations:
Not suitable for areas where subsequent solvent contact is likely.
Not recommended for use on potable drinking water tanks.
Avoid inhalation of vapours in confined spaces; ensure adequate ventilation during application.
Allow sufficient drying time between coats.
