  • Description

The Everbuild 901 Black Jack Bitumen Paint is a solvent-based, full-bodied black bituminous paint supplied in a 5-litre tin. Upon drying, it forms an odourless and taint-free black film suitable for metal protection and overcoating wood and felt.

    Key Features:

    • Waterproof and Weatherproof: Provides an effective barrier against water ingress and withstands various weather conditions.

    • Corrosion-Resistant: Offers protection against corrosion, enhancing the longevity of metal surfaces.

    • Fast Drying: Dries quickly, allowing for efficient project completion.

    • Versatile Application: Suitable for use on most common building surfaces, including iron, steel, lead, zinc, aluminium, asbestos-cement, concrete, stone, wood, felt, and brick.

    Common Uses:

    • Metal Protection: Ideal for corrugated iron sheets, fire escapes, stairways, ladders, storage tanks, gutters, downpipes, fences, railings, and gates.

    • Protective Coating: Serves as a protective layer for concrete structures, stone, brick, concrete screeds, and sand/cement surfaces.

    • Overcoating: Suitable for overcoating felt and wood to enhance durability.

    Application Guidelines:

    1. Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are sound, stable, and thoroughly clean and dry. Metal surfaces should be wire-brushed to remove rust. For long-term protection, an initial treatment with a rust-inhibitive product is recommended.

    2. Application: Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply by brush or spray without thinning. A minimum of two coats is recommended, allowing the first coat to dry (typically 2-4 hours, depending on weather conditions) before applying the second.

    3. Coverage: On porous surfaces, coverage is approximately 4-6 square meters per litre; on non-porous surfaces, up to 11 square meters per litre.

    Limitations:

    • Not suitable for areas where subsequent solvent contact is likely.

    • Not recommended for use on potable drinking water tanks.

    • Avoid inhalation of vapours in confined spaces; ensure adequate ventilation during application.

    • Allow sufficient drying time between coats.
