Visqueen Non-Combustible DPC

The 2018 change to Building Reg 7(2) bans combustible materials in relevant external walls over 18 m. That rules out traditional polymer DPCs—but not your project. Visqueen Zedex Non-Combustible DPC is a 0.6 mm aluminium/ glass-fibre laminate that achieves Euroclass A1 yet stays flexible enough to dress round corners and lintels. Use it as a damp-proof course, cavity tray or masonry sleeve anywhere fire safety is paramount.

Best-practice installation

  1. Support: fix every 450 mm with stainless nails or the dedicated Zedex fixing strip.

  2. Laps: 100 mm minimum; seal with Visqueen Zedex Double-Sided Butyl Tape for water & gas tightness.

  3. Weep vents: insert full-height A1 weep holes at 450 mm centres over every tray.

  4. Movement joints: allow slips at structural movement breaks; bond overlaps on one side only.

  5. Storage: keep rolls flat, dry and shaded—aluminium faces can scuff if dragged.

FAQs

Is it as flexible as polymer DPC?
Yes—aluminium/glass scrim gives enough flex to fold 90 ° without cracking; warm gently in winter for tight bends.

Can I torch-bond it?
No—heat will damage the laminate. Use butyl tapes or Visqueen High-Bond where adhesive laps are needed.

Does it need primer?
Only on dusty concrete or block surfaces; otherwise fix mechanically with the stainless strip.
