  • Description

The Vista 25/14 Restraint Channel System is designed to tie an outer masonry leaf to light steel, concrete, or timber frames through insulation. It allows vertical movement while providing lateral restraint. The system comprises stainless steel channels, wall ties (such as the VS9 Steel Channel Tie), fixings, and compression sleeves for use when fixing to concrete, timber, and large insulation thicknesses.

    Channel Specifications:

    • Dimensions: The channel measures 25 mm in width and 14 mm in depth, with a standard length of 2700 mm.

    • Pre-Punched Holes: Features alternating 5.5 mm and 9.5 mm diameter holes at 112.5 mm centers, ensuring a fixing position near the end of each channel length. The 5.5 mm holes are intended for fixing to steel using self-tapping screws, while the 9.5 mm holes are for fixing to concrete with appropriate fasteners. A 16 mm opening accommodates standard drive sockets and washers for fixing screws.

    VS9 Steel Channel Ties:

    • Design: The VS9 ties have a radiused notched head profile specifically designed for use with the 25/14 channel, allowing placement at any point along the channel's length without interference from screw heads. They are suitable for cavities up to 250 mm, with projection lengths ranging from 75 mm to 250 mm.

    • Material: Manufactured from grade 304 stainless steel, the ties offer excellent corrosion resistance and a service life of not less than 60 years. They are non-combustible, as defined in national building regulations.

    Installation Overview:

    1. Fixing to Steel Studding: Secure the channel to the steel studding using self-drilling, self-tapping screws that pass through the channel and any intervening insulation material. The screws' under-head high thread offers maximum support to the channel while preventing compression of the insulation.

    2. Fixing to Concrete: When attaching to concrete, screws run through the channel and insulation inside a compression sleeve, into pre-drilled pilot holes in the concrete. Compression sleeves ensure the insulation is not deformed during installation.

    3. Tie Placement: Insert the VS9 ties into the channel, positioning them at the desired locations to align with the masonry coursing. The ties are then embedded within the mortar joints during masonry construction.

This system ensures effective tying of masonry to various structural frames, accommodating vertical movement while providing necessary lateral restraint. The use of stainless steel components enhances durability and compliance with building standards.
