Ancon SPS Wall Ties

Heavy-duty restraint for wide-cavity masonry

The Ancon SPS is the industry’s go-to Type 1 heavy-duty flat bar tie—perfect when your façade must resist high wind loadings yet cope with today’s wider insulated cavities. Made from Grade 304 (or 316) austenitic stainless steel, each tie features rounded safety ends to protect DPMs and a flat profile that seats snugly in the bed joint with no drip to snag on insulation. Lengths from 150 mm to 300 mm cover cavities up to about 175 mm, satisfying the density rules in PD 6697 and structural limits of BS EN 845-1.

Key benefits

  • Type 1 performance – tested to >1.7 kN characteristic tension and compression.

  • Flat bar design – easy placement, minimal mortar cover.

  • Safety cranked ends – reduces risk of brick spalling or membrane puncture.

  • Lengths stocked: 150 / 200 / 225 / 250 / 275 / 300 mm (box of 250).

Installation essentials

  1. Density – 2.5 ties /m² in standard brickwork; 5 ties around openings.

  2. Embedment – 50 ± 10 mm in each leaf for full load capacity.

  3. Mortar class – Use an M4 mortar or better for coastal sites.

  4. Accessories – For movement joints, pair SPS with movement ties; for unusual cavities see our low-thermal-conductivity ties range.

Frequently asked questions

Are SPS ties suitable for collar-jointed walls?

No—the flat profile has no drip, so for collar-jointed construction specify the Ancon SPS CJ instead.

What stainless grade do I need near the coast?

Within 500 m of salt water we recommend Grade 316; select this option before adding to basket.

How many boxes will I need?

Multiply your wall area by 2.5 ties /m² and divide by 250 (box quantity). Our team can run a spacing schedule—just contact us.

Can I get next-day delivery?

Yes—place your order before noon, spend £200 ex-VAT and check our delivery information for postcode exceptions.
