Staples

Staples

Heavy-duty construction staples for fixing membranes, vapour barriers, breather membranes and insulation in residential and commercial building work. The right fastener for the job — fast, secure, and reliable — and a workshop staple (no pun intended) on most building sites.

Spechunter stocks the Stanley heavy-duty staple range — the trade-standard staples for use with Stanley TR-series and compatible staple guns.

What's in the Range

Stanley 10mm Heavy Duty Staples (STA1TRA706T) — 10mm leg length, suitable for fixing thinner membranes (DPMs, breather membranes, vapour control layers) and lighter materials to timber substrates.

Stanley 12mm Heavy Duty Staples (STA1TRA708T) — 12mm leg length, suitable for thicker materials and heavier-duty applications: insulation board hold-back, multi-layer membrane laps, and fixing where extra grip is needed.

Selecting Leg Length

The leg length should be at least double the thickness of the material being fixed, plus enough to penetrate the substrate by 8–10mm minimum. For most membrane work to softwood timber, 10mm leg is sufficient. For thicker materials or harder timber, 12mm gives more reliable hold.

Heavy-duty staples are designed for use with Stanley TR-series staple guns and compatible third-party tools that accept the same staple format. Check your gun's compatibility before ordering.

Common Applications

  • Fixing breather membranes to timber-frame studs
  • Securing vapour control layers to ceiling joists and stud frames
  • Holding insulation in place during install (before mechanical fixings or wet-applied finishes)
  • Securing DPM laps during slab preparation
  • General-purpose hold-down for plastic sheeting, fleece protection materials, and temporary site coverings
