Full Height Weep Holes

The original, time-served cavity-drain vent

Whenever a cavity tray, lintel or DPC turns moisture back into the cavity, you need a route for that water to escape. Full-height weep holes do the job with a one-brick insert that satisfies NHBC and BBA guidance—and bricklayers love them because there’s zero fiddling with cut bricks or mortar nibs.

At Spechunter we stock the Timloc 1143 series in every colour off the delivery truck, plus matching extension sleeves for thick render or stone cladding.

Need extra reach behind render? Add the 1144 Extension Sleeve (250 mm long).

Why choose the 1143 full-height vent?

  • BBA-certified polypropylene—UV-stabilised, frost-proof and 60-year design life.

  • Full-brick format—sits flush in the perp joint; no half-bat bricks or site trimming.

  • Integral water baffle at rear stops wind-driven rain blowing deep into the cavity.

  • 4 mm vermin grill keeps out bees and wasps without blocking airflow.

Where to install

  1. Above every cavity tray—lintels, bay windows, parapets and balconies.

  2. At ground-level DPC—one per 900 mm in retaining walls.

  3. At floor edges—especially over party-wall DPC horizontal socks.

Spacing rule: one vent every 450 mm (≈2 bricks), minimum two vents per tray.

Three-step installation

  1. Set the cavity tray or lintel, making sure there’s a 25 mm clear space behind.

  2. Place the 1143 into the perp joint—logo to the front, water-baffle downwards.

  3. Point the brickwork, keeping mortar below the front grill clear to maintain airflow.

For thick render, slide the 1144 sleeve over the rear end before insertion.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need weeps if I’m using concealed vents?

You can mix types—just keep to the 450 mm spacing. Full-height vents are quicker on standard façades; concealed vents suit high-end brickwork.

How many boxes for a typical house?

A four-bed detached with ±30 m of cavity trays needs about 70 vents → two boxes.

Are plastic weeps allowed above 18 m?

Not any longer. For high-rise specify our non-combustible A1 weep holes in zinc or aluminium.

Next-day delivery—any catches?

Order before noon, spend £200 ex-VAT and check our delivery information for remote-area surcharges.
