Breather Membranes

Keep water out, let buildings breathe

A high-performance breather membrane is the first line of defence behind cladding or masonry—blocking wind-driven rain while letting trapped moisture escape. Spechunter stocks the big names contractors trust:

All rolls are BBA or NHBC accepted, deliver ≥ 0.2 m³/m²/h wind-tightness and vapour resistance < 0.12 MNs/g—right in the sweet spot for UK condensation risk analysis.

Order before 12:00 and spend £200 ex-VAT for free next-day delivery. Call our building-envelope desk on 0118 922 7941 for WUFI checks or project take-offs.

Why buy breather membranes from Spechunter?

Proven weather protection

BBA certificates confirm Class W1 water holdout and UV durability behind rainscreens for up to 4 months exposure.

Airtightness without condensation risk

Vapour-open construction lets structural timber dry to the outside while the membrane’s air-tight layer slashes uncontrolled infiltration—easier SAP scores.

Flame-retardant options

Tyvek FireCurb and Wraptite®-SA meet external-wall requirements above 11 m in England and everywhere in Scotland (Euroclass B or better).

Installation essentials

  1. Lap 100 mm horizontally, 150 mm at corners; face the logo outwards.

  2. Seal penetrations with Tyvek or Wraptite system tapes.

  3. Use stainless staples or plastic-headed clouts at 300 mm centres.

  4. Counter-batten rainscreen façades to maintain a 38 mm drained cavity.

  5. Integrate with DPCs and closers—link to ARC or Hyload membranes at sills.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a vapour-control layer inside if I use Wraptite?
Yes. Wraptite controls external air leakage but remains vapour-open; install a separate VCL on the warm side.

How long can the membrane be left exposed?
Tyvek products: 4 months; Wraptite-SA: 90 days. Always check the cladding programme.

Are these membranes suitable behind open-joint cladding?
Only if UV-stable. Use Tyvek UV Facade or similar—call us for availability.

Next-day delivery—is it guaranteed?
Place your order before noon, hit £200 ex-VAT and see our delivery information for postcode exceptions.
