Best-practice sealing tips

  1. Dry & dust-free—wipe substrates, especially concrete pores, before applying butyl.

  2. Roll it in—use a 50 mm silicone roller to exclude trapped air.

  3. Stagger joints—offset tape seams from membrane laps to avoid triple build-up.

  4. Temp range—store rolls at 10–25 °C; warm gently on a dashboard if below site temps.

  5. Protect edges—finish exposed terminations with EPDM Interface Membranes or liquid flashing.

FAQs

Butyl vs acrylic—when to choose?
Butyl bonds DPMs, DPCs and foil-facings; it stays tacky for life. Acrylic is vapour-open and UV-stable, ideal for breather membranes and façade wraps.

Will foil tape meet NHBC cavity-barrier rules?
Yes—our aluminium tapes are Class A1 non-combustible when used with mineral-wool barriers like ARC T-Barrier Masonry.

Shelf life?
18 months stored cool and dry; butyl remains usable longer if kept wrapped.
