Metal Screws
Self-drilling "TEC" screws save time on site: the drill-point pierces the sheet, taps the thread and clamps the joint in one hit — no pre-drilling, no swarf to clear, no separate threading step. The right specification for connecting steel-to-steel and steel-to-timber in modern construction.
Spechunter stocks Ancon HTSS Tec Screws and Evolution self-drilling steel screws — covering everything from light SFS framing to heavy façade rail fixings, in carbon and stainless steel finishes.
What's in the Range
Ancon HTSS Tec Screw range — full A2 stainless steel construction. Lengths 115mm, 135mm, 180mm, 200mm and 240mm. Twin-pitch (2PT) thread for fast drive and reliable hold. Whitworth (W) or hex flange head options.
Specific stocked variants:
- HTSS-115-2PT-W — 115mm length
- HTSS-135-2PT-W — 135mm length
- HTSS-180-2PT-W — 180mm length
- HTSS-200-2PTW — 200mm length
- HTSS-240-2PT-W — 240mm length
All Ancon HTSS screws are supplied in Bag of 100. Designed for use with Ancon's masonry-support systems but compatible with general steel-to-steel structural fixings.
The wider range includes Evolution self-drilling and self-tapping screws in zinc-flake carbon steel and A2/A4 stainless variants — for façade rails, SFS framing, and steel-to-timber substrate fixings.
Carbon Steel vs Stainless
A2 / A4 stainless steel — for external applications, exposed structural fixings, and any application where the screw will be permanently exposed to moisture. The trade-standard specification for façade and external SFS work.
Zinc-flake carbon steel — for fully internal applications where the fixing will not be exposed to weather or moisture. Significantly cheaper than stainless; adequate for light SFS framing and internal partition work.
Common Applications
- Façade rail fixing to steel substrates
- SFS metal stud framing connections
- Cladding rail fixings
- Steel-to-timber fixings (e.g. cassette wall to base plate)
- Heavy-duty masonry support connections (Ancon HTSS-series)
Selection Criteria
Match the screw length to the combined thickness of the materials being joined plus the embedment depth required by the structural specification. Hex flange heads for applications requiring socket-driven installation; Whitworth heads where a flat seating face is required.
