Keyfix NCRD A1 Metal Insulation Retaining Clip (Box of 250) — 0.5mm AISI 304 stainless steel construction, fire-rated A1 non-combustible. The right choice for buildings over 18m or where the cavity wall buildup specifies non-combustible components.

Plastic vs Metal — When to Specify Which

For typical low-rise residential cavity walls (under 11m, no specific A1 fire requirement), plastic clips like the Timloc red are cost-effective and adequate.

For buildings over 18m, high-occupancy buildings, or any project where the specification calls for non-combustible cavity components, the Keyfix NCRD A1 metal clip is the right choice. The Ancon Teplo clip is specific to Teplo tie installations.

Installation

Retaining clips are pushed onto the wall tie before the insulation board is offered up to the inner leaf. The clip's spring-action grips the tie shaft, holding the insulation board flat against the inner leaf as work progresses. One clip per tie is the typical specification — check the project's structural drawings for exact requirements.
